What it is & how it works
The Monetary Authority of Singapore runs a FinTech Regulatory Sandbox that lets financial institutions and fintechs trial innovative products in Singapore within defined boundaries and safeguards. Alongside it, MAS offers Sandbox Express as a faster track for activities with well-understood risks, plus a Sandbox Plus variant. You apply to experiment under agreed conditions, which gives firms a controlled way to test regulated services in the market before a full rollout.
Setup, limits & watch-outs
Like other regulator programs, access is application based and Singapore-scoped, so it fits firms targeting Singapore and the wider APAC market rather than a global launch. Experimentation happens inside defined boundaries and safeguards that MAS sets, with limits on what you can do during the trial. The Express track can shorten approval for eligible activities, but you still work within the conditions MAS agrees before and during the test.
